Boston Lafayette
Lodge of Perfection

A continuing journey of character, faith, and fellowship.

Formed February 18, 1895 · Precedence from January 21, 1842

Introduction

Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection was formed on February 18, 1895, through the union of Boston and Lafayette Lodges of Perfection. It traces its precedence to the charter of Boston Grand Lodge of Perfection, dated January 21, 1842.

The Lodge of Perfection introduces Master Masons to the Scottish Rite through the 4th through 14th degrees. Known as the Ineffable Degrees, they build on the teachings of the symbolic lodge and invite reflection on faith, integrity, justice, and service.

“Perfection” describes an aspiration: the ongoing work of improving our character. The Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection offers a setting for that work through the lessons of the degrees and fellowship with other Scottish Rite Masons.

The 4th–14th Degrees

These eleven degrees encourage reflection on moral responsibility and spiritual growth. Each offers a lesson to carry into everyday life.
